Bass or striper?

Two of Virginia’s best fisheries in one lake, and two completely different days. Most first-time guests ask us this.

Largemouth bass

Strategy and precision
Every trip involves reading conditions, making presentations and adapting through the day as fish move between docks, offshore structure, grass, rock, timber and bait. If you enjoy staying engaged and learning how fish behave, bass fishing is hard to beat.

Striped bass

Strategy and precision
Depending on the season, your guide may use live bait, trolling or jigging to find active schools. If your goal is battling hard-fighting fish, time with family and friends, or simply an exciting day on the water, a striper trip is the pick.

Can’t decide? Fish both.

Many guests book a half-day bass trip and a half-day striper trip to compare the two fisheries in one visit to Lake Anna.

Before you book

The questions we hear most. The full FAQ covers gear, weather, tipping and more.
What if I’ve never fished before?
No problem. Our guides enjoy teaching anglers of every experience level, from complete beginners to seasoned fishermen. On a bass trip you learn techniques as you go; on a striper or crappie trip the guide handles bait and setup so you can focus on the fight.
We love taking kids fishing. We generally recommend ages 5 and up, but it depends on the child. Guides handle casting, baiting and coaching as needed so kids can focus on having fun. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.
Bass trips run from high-performance bass boats and are limited to 3 anglers so everyone has room to cast. Striper trips run from a pontoon or bass boat for up to 4 anglers, occasionally 5. Crappie trips run from our pontoon for up to 5. Larger groups can book multiple boats.
We provide premium rods, reels, tackle, bait when applicable and all required safety equipment. Bring weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, food and drinks. You are welcome to bring your own gear too.
Safety is always the priority. We fish in rain and wind, so trips are only cancelled for unsafe conditions such as lightning, heavy downpours or high sustained winds. If we cancel for weather we reschedule first, and refund in full if no new date works.
A $100 deposit reserves your trip and is fully refundable up to 48 hours before it starts. Cancellations inside 48 hours forfeit the deposit; same-day cancellations and no-shows are charged the full trip price. Life happens, and we will work with you on rescheduling whenever we can.
